MEP calls for emergency flood relief application
An MEP has called on the Government to apply for emergency flood relief from the European Union.
Following devastating floods across central Europe in 2002, the EU established a solidarity fund to assist member states that suffer as a result of natural disasters such as flooding.
Flooding across the country is estimated to have cost €500m so far.
MEP for Ireland South Alan Kelly said that while the application process was difficult, it was vital that a request for funding was made soon.
