Judge: Govt should reopen death penalty debate

A prominent judge has said the Government should revisit the question of the death penalty being used for certain crimes in Ireland.

Former president of the High Court Mr Justice Richard Johnson said the question should be looked at, with the idea of capital punishment being reintroduced if there is popular backing for it.
