Sister of murdered Irishwoman says investigation 'incomplete'

The sister of an Irish woman who died on the holiday island of Tenerife last Christmas has said she believes the Spanish authorities didn't investigate the case properly.

Lisa McConway, 28, from Blackrock in Dublin was found lying dead in a pool of blood at her apartment in Playa de Las Amercia on December 24 last year.

Intially, Spanish police treated the case as one of murder but later put it down to an accident.

However, two-weeks ago State Pathologist, Marie Cassidy, told an inquest into the 28-year-old's death that she had suffered blunt-force trauma from her head to her toes consistent with an assault.

Spanish authorities maintain that their inquiry was proper.

Lisa's sister Claire has said given what she had seen in the apartment following Lisa's death, there are still many unanswered questions.

Ms McConway said: "There were pools of blood in various places; there were smashed bottles, which would be consistent with a struggle.

"In the main living room, there was blood splatter all over the place".

"Unless the court file, which we've managed to obtain, is incomplete - it doesn't seem any forensics was done, any analysis was on anything pertaining as to how the apartment was left."
