Eighty jobs are to go at manufacturing company Beru in Tralee in Co Kerry.

The company - which manufactures electronic components for car manufacturers - released a statement this evening confirming plans first announced in June.

It comes as 250 jobs were lost in Sligo today, with the closure of Stiefel Laboratories.

Beru says it will now enter into consultation with staff to protect the employment of 120 people at its Monavalley plant where 200 people are employed.
