Report: HSE to cut back on aids for elderly and disabled
The HSE is reportedly cutting back on basic essential aids for elderly and disabled patients, like bedpans, drip stands and toilet frames.
The Irish Examiner claims to have seen a circular which states that such appliances will no longer be bought and supplied to patients in the west region.
They are issued by community health nurses or on leaving hospital and all items cost less than €100.
Age Action's Eamon Timmons has branded the move a disgrace and says it will have huge consequences.
