No trade-off talks with Government, insists McLoone

IMPACT boss Peter McLoone says there are no trade off negotiations taking place with the Government.

He was commenting on a leaked letter from him, published in the Irish Times this morning, warning that a deal with the Government to avoid pay cuts will result in public-sector job losses in the next few years.

The head of the IMPACT union says he was referring to the already existing recruitment embargo in the public service, saying that the key question unions want answered from Government is how long that embargo will continue.

He says everyone must realise that any alternative to pay reductions will not be without pain.
