Actress awarded almost €72,000 for car-crash injuries
An actress and former Irish champion dancer has secured damages of €71,993 for injuries she suffered following a car crash near Dublin airport more than five years ago.
Charlene Gleeson (aged 26), one of the star of the RTE 2 television programme 'Steve and Sarah', had claimed that she has been unable to dance at the same level as prior to the accident due to the pain in her back.
She sued Kamal Bounovana, with an address in Coventry, England and Johnson & Perrott Ltd trading as Avis Rent a Car arising out of soft tissue injuries she sustained to her neck, lower back and hip following a car accident. Liability had been admitted by the defendants and the case was before the court for assessment of damages only.
The award of €71,993 was made today in the High Court by Mr Justice Daniel Herbert.
In his judgment the judge said he was satisfied to make the award Miss Gleeson, who he described as a "remarkable talent", for the pain and suffering caused by the accident.
