Man due in court over Tullamore stabbing

A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a Brazilian woman in Co. Offaly last Thursday.

Mother of three Joselita Silva, 33, was found dead at an apartment on Tara Street in Tullamore.

A post mortem showed she had died as a result of multiple stab wounds to the chest and stomach.

A man was arrested at the scene on Thursday evening, but gardaí only began questioning him on Saturday after he was released from the Midlands Regional Hospital, where he was being treated for superficial injuries.

He will appear before the District Court to be charged in relation to the murder later today.
