Age Action warns of protests over pension means test
Age Action Ireland is warning of mass protests and huge opposition to any Government moves to means test the State pension.
The organisation said it is extremely concerned over suggestions that people who have paid the required number of stamps over a lifetime working, may now have to be means tested to see if they qualify for a pension they are entitled to.
Over half of pensioners rely on the State pension as their only means of income.
Age Action spokesperson Eamon Timmons said older people wouldn't take it lying down.
