The Government has reportedly informed trade unions that it plans to cut a further €1.3bn from the public-sector pay bill in this December's budget.

Reports this morning say Taoiseach Brian Cowen and Finance Minister Brian Lenihan told union leaders on Tuesday night that they plan to cut the overall pay bill by almost 7%.
