Public servants set to strike over cuts warning

Some 55,000 public servants were put on strike footing today as Taoiseach Brian Cowen again warned their pay would be cut in the December Budget.

The Impact trade union revealed members voted overwhelmingly in favour of stoppages claiming state employees were being lined up for a second salary hit in just eight months.
