The second victim of Monday evening's Air Corps plane crash in the west of the country is due to be buried with full military honours today.

Thirty-two-year-old Capt Derek Furniss, from south Co Dublin, will be laid to rest at Kilmashogue cemetery following funeral mass at St John the Evangelist Church in Ballinteer.

Yesterday, 22-year-old cadet David Jevens was buried with full military honours in Barntown, Co Wexford.

President Mary McAleese, Defence Minister Willie O'Dea and Defence Forces chief-of-staff Lieutenant General Dermot Early were among the mourners at the funeral.

The heads of the Air Corps and Naval Service were also in attendance.

The two pilots died when their two-seater aircraft crashed into a hillside on the Galway-Mayo border during a training exercise.
