Coughlan: Man sacked after exam audit

The Tánaiste has today told the Dáil that the staff member at the centre of the latest scandal involving FÁS has been removed from office.

Reports this morning claimed some students who failed a course operated by a company sub-contracted to carry out training work on behalf of FÁS had their results changed to make it look like they had passed their exams.

An audit focusing on FÁS courses in the north-east reportedly found that a tutor for a computer-aided design course doctored results for several students.

Mary Coughlan told the Dáil today that the issue has been dealt with and the employee involved has been removed from office.
