Aer Lingus has announced it is to cut 676 jobs as part of a cost-cutting plan aimed at reducing operating costs by €97m by the end of 2011.

Aer Lingus today announced plans to make 676 job cuts as part of a bid to save almost€97m by the end of 2011.

The former flag-carrier said it could not continue with its current operating costs and insisted the redundancies were essential to bring the firm into line with competitors.
