'Yes' vote 'will destroy Irish fishing industry'

The Irish Fisherman's Organisation says a 'Yes' vote in the Lisbon Treaty will completely destroy the Irish fishing industry.

The IFO says EU membership has been a disaster for Irish fishing as fleets have been reduced and fishermen from Spain now have greater access to our waters than those who actually live here.

The IFO is part of the People's Movement which is opposed to the Lisbon Treaty.

Spokesperson Catherine Ní Hé says a 'Yes' vote would allow the Irish fishing industry to be further disadvantaged.
