Council charged in connection with worker's landfill death

Fermanagh District Council has been charged with breaching health and safety rules after the death of one of its workers at a landfill site, it was revealed today.

Digger driver Ronnie Marshall was seriously injured at Drummee site in Enniskillen on April 8 last year and died in hospital 10 days later.

It is believed the ground gave way and his digger fell into a gully.

The case, involving five separate counts of breaking health and safety regulations, is scheduled for Dungannon Crown Court on October 22.
