Gardaí question six after drugs haul
Six men were being questioned by drugs squad officers today after two separate garda searches recovered more than €8m of cannabis and heroin.
A man in his 30s was arrested after one tonne of cannabis resin, worth more than €6m, was seized on an industrial premises in Dunboyne, Co Meath last night.
It is believed the massive haul was smuggled into the country through Dublin Port and tracked to the business.
In a separate raid in Kildare, four men were detained after a house was searched and 15 kilos of heroin recovered.
Another man was taken in for questioning in a follow-up search.
Organised crime units, the drugs squad, customs and local gardaí were deployed in the two operations.
The multi-million euro seizures are the latest successes for customs and drugs units after a €3m cocaine factory bust in Dublin and an €8m cannabis haul found in a flower truck from Amsterdam.
