Elderly man injured during Waterford burglary

An elderly man is in a serious condition in hospital after being injured during a burglary in Waterford city last night.

The man's home on Mount Sion Avenue was broken into just after 9.30pm.

The victim, who was in his early 80s, received facial injuries and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The house remains sealed off for technical examination.
