Road closure still in place after Dublin crash

The northbound side of Dublin's O'Connell Street remains closed this morning following yesterday's incident when a LAUS tram and a double-decker bus were in collision.

Twenty-six people were hospitalised after the tram crashed into the side of the bus at the junction with Middle Abbey Street.

Most had cuts, bruises or fractures, but at least two people are believed to be in a serious condition.

The tram and the bus have been removed from the scene and the road is expected to be reopened later this morning.

In the meantime, traffic diversions are in place at O’Connell Bridge.

Separate investigations have been launched by the Gardaí, Dublin Bus, the Railway Procurement Agency and Veolia Transport, which operates the LUAS.
