Search mounted after Fermanagh bomb warnings

A number of homes in Co Fermanagh have been evacuated amid fears that dissident republicans may have planted a roadside bomb in the area.

A stretch of road has been sealed off following warnings that a device has been left on the Lisnaskea Road near the village of Rosslea.

The PSNI says telephone calls have been made to local businesses and media organisations in recent weeks claiming that explosive devices have been abandoned in the area.

Last week, a 600lb bomb was defused following a lengthy security operation near Forkhill in south Armagh.

The bomb had a command wire stretching across the border into the Republic.

It appears to have been planted in the hope that police officers could be lured into an ambush.
