Ryan: Greens have secured agreement on NAMA risk-sharing

The Minister for Communications has said the Green Party has secured agreement in principle that banks will share some of the risk under NAMA.

Eamon Ryan said provisional plans have been made to include risk-sharing in the new bad bank plan.

The Greens are holding a special members conference on the NAMA on Saturday.

Minister Ryan insisted his party's concerns about the controversial plan are being addressed.

"One of the concepts we’ve been pushing is this idea of risk-sharing - that the banks would take on some of the risks on any prices we pay above market value.

"I think that’s crucial to give the public confidence that this is going to work in their interest and we have, I think, agreed in principle on that approach," he said.
