Politicians to discuss cutbacks in overseas aid

TDs and Senators will today assess the impact of the latest cutbacks in funding for overseas aid.

The heads of Ireland's largest aid agencies have been called before the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The charities claim they have had to cut staff numbers and pull work from some developing countries, after funding for overseas aid was slashed by nearly €100m in the last Budget.
