Former Waterford TD to be laid to rest

The funeral of former Waterford TD Billy Kenneally, the father of sitting TD Brendan Kenneally, takes place today.

Mr Kenneally was first elected to the Dáil for Fianna Fáil in 1965 and was re-elected for four further terms before losing his seat in 1982.

He went on to become a Senator and also served twice as Mayor of Waterford city.

The 83-year-old passed away at Waterford Regional Hospital on Wednesday night.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Joseph and Benildus Church with burial afterwards at St Mary’s Cemetery.
