Cowen to arrive in US for Ted Kennedy funeral

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen is due to arrive in the US today for the funeral of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, who died on Tuesday after battling a brain tumour.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out for the funeral procession at the John F Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, where the 77-year-old will lie in repose.

Senator Kennedy will be buried tomorrow at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington, alongside his assassinated brothers John and Bobby.

President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy at the funeral.
