RCN welcomes new sex assault unit in Galway

The Rape Crisis Network has welcomed the opening of a Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in Galway.

The association says the absence of a unit in the west has been a source of additional distress and trauma to victims of sexual violence in the area.

The new service will be available 24 hours a day and can be accessed either through the Gardaí or by calling 1800 355 355.

Other Sexual Assault Treatment Units are already in place at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin and in Waterford, Cork, Mullingar and Letterkenny.
