Fears over increasing risk of rural suicide

There has been a marked rise in the number of calls to the Farm and Rural Stress Helpline because of the recession.

It is fuelling fears of a possible rise in rural suicide.

Calls were once mostly related to isolation and loneliness but now the HSE-operated service is dealing with issues of stress arising from money worries.
