Police in the North are investigating a so-called tiger raid in which a Co Down family were held hostage overnight.

Police in the North are investigating a so-called tiger raid in which a Co Down family were held hostage overnight.

A gang entered the family's home near Downpatrick last night and forced one of the occupants to go to the post office in Ballymote, where she works.

She handed over a sum of cash to the gang and her relatives were set free shortly afterwards.

The PSNI says the victims were not injured during the incident, but were shaken by their ordeal.
