Gardaí probe baby's death
A garda investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death of a seven-week-old baby girl at Sligo General Hospital.
The infant was taken to the hospital by her parents at 10am on Saturday morning with suspected head injuries and was pronounced dead at lunchtime yesterday.
Hospital staff alerted gardaí, who sealed off the family home in the Cranmore estate yesterday for forensic examination.
A post mortem examination is also due to be carried out at the hospital later today.
