The body of a woman found dead in Dublin’s Phoenix Park will be examined today.

The body of a woman found dead in Dublin’s Phoenix Park will be examined today.

The woman was discovered yesterday afternoon in a wooded area near the Military Road area of the park.

She had died in a violent attack and it is believed she may have suffered stab wounds.

She was in her late 30s or early 40s and may have died a number of days ago.

Detectives were also investigating if the woman was homeless.

Garda forensic teams and the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis carried initial examinations at the scene late last night.

Detectives from Cabra are investigating the death.

Gardaí appealed for anyone who may have been in the area and saw anything unusual over the last three days to come forward.
