Elderly man dies in Kerry house fire

An elderly man has died in a house fire in Kerry.

Two other people managed to escape from the blaze which broke out just before 3am today at a house in Coolownig Lauragh.

An 88-year-old man was fatally injured in the fire and his body has been taken to Kerry General Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out later today.

The deceased man was a Dutch national who had been residing in the area for some time.

The scene of the fire is being preserved and The Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit are in attendance.
