Gardaí in Co Clare are continuing to question a 25-year-old man this morning following yesterday's fatal shooting in Kilrush.

The man presented himself to gardaí in the town a number of hours after the murder on O'Gorman Street, which happened at around 10.30am.

The victim - a 27-year-old heroin addict - was found dead in the garden of a house.

He is understood to have been shot several times and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

The killing is not believed to be gang-related, with reports this morning suggesting the victim and his attacker may have been involved in a personal feud.
