Cancer Society calls for ban on sunbeds
The Irish Cancer Society says the use of sunbeds should be banned in Ireland after a new study revealing they are as harmful as cigarettes and asbestos.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer says the risk of skin cancer increases by 75% when people use tanning devices before the age of 30.
The Irish Cancer Society says this highlights the urgent need for legislation to regulate the sunbed industry in Ireland.
It says the Government should aim to eventually ban such devices outright.
