TEEU suspends electricians' strike
Electricians are to return to work tomorrow.
The executive of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) has today unanimously decided to accept the Labour Court Recommendation, aimed at resolving the electricians' dispute.
The union has decided to suspend its week-long strike to await the response of the employers.
However TEEU General Secretary Designate, Eamon Devoy says they reserve the right to reactivate the industrial action if required.
He added that the executive will meet again next Thursday to review the situation.
The Labour Court is recommending that workers receive a phased pay rise of almost 5%.
The increase would be introduced in two stages - one pay rise of 2.5% in September and another of 2.4% in January 2010.
