Man dies on jet diverted to Shannon
A man has died on board a transatlantic jet which was forced to divert and land at Shannon Airport in Co Clare this morning.
The Delta Airlines flight was travelling from London to Atlanta, Georgia when the crew contacted air traffic controllers at Shannon requesting permission to land there.
A passenger who suffered a suspected heart attack was pronounced dead at the airport - his body was removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
Meanwhile, another man is in a stable condition at Cork University Hospital after having a heart attack on a KLM flight from Panama City to Amsterdam that was diverted to Cork Airport earlier.
Both flights have since continued on to their destinations.
