A 2005 "tiger kidnapping" victim today identified an ex-colleague accused of the robbery on Securicor CCTV the morning of the crime.

Mr Paul Richardson identified himself arriving to work on the footage shown to the jury, followed seconds later by Mr Niall Byrne (aged 27) of Aughavanagh Road, Crumlin.

Mr Byrne; Mr Jason Kavanagh, of Parslickstown Court, Ladyswell; David Byrne (aged 36), of Old Brazeel Way, Knocksedan, Swords; Mark Farrelly (aged 37), of Moatview Court, Priorswood and Christopher Corcoran (aged 61), of Bayside Boulevard North, Sutton all deny two charges.

They have pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbing €2.28m from Mr Paul Richardson and Securicor and to falsely imprisoning the Richardson family on March 13 and 14, 2005.

Mr Richardson told prosecution counsel, Mr Dominic McGinn BL, that the footage showed him walking to the turnstile entrance with a man he collected every morning and another colleague. He said the next person to appear on the CCTV was Mr Byrne entering Securicor the same way.

Mrs Marie Richardson told Mr Denis Vaughan Buckley, prosecuting, that two men caught on CCTV of a petrol station near her home, were "dressed almost identical" to the kidnappers who abducted her and her two sons.

She said the red stripe on one man’s trousers was like that on the raider she called "the navigator".

It was day 47 of the trial which continues before Judge Tony Hunt and a jury of seven men and five women.
