Woman dies after serious fall on Mweelrea Mountain

Gardaí in Co Mayo have confirmed that a woman who slipped into a gully on Mweelrea Mountain yesterday evening did not survive the fall.

The 50-year-old woman, who was from Dublin, was climbing the mountain with her husband when the incident happened.

The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team located the woman's remains early this morning.

Her husband has been joined by family members in Delphi, while other relatives are still being contacted by the gardaí.
