Woman suffers serious fall on Mweelrea Mountain

A rescue operation is underway on Mweelrea Mountain in Co Mayo this morning after a woman fell into a gully while out with her husband yesterday evening.

The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team located the woman early this morning following an overnight search.

They say she suffered a serious fall in an area that is inaccessible for a rescue helicopter.

They are currently trying to rig up a rope system so they can gain access to her and establish what condition she is in.
