Harney committed to colorectal screening programme

Health Minister Mary says she is committed to introducing a national colorectal screening programme in Ireland as soon as possible.

Ms Harney's comments follow the publication of two reports today from the Health Information and Quality Authority and the National Cancer Screening Service.

Both reports highlight the need for a national screening programme for men and woman aged between 55 and 74.

Ms Harney says she has asked HIQA to identify innovative ways of delivering such a programme and report back to her by the end of September.
