Cancer group seeks national screening programme
The National Cancer Screening Service (NCSS) is recommending the roll-out of a national colorectal screening programme for men and women in Ireland.
Colorectal cancer is the second most fatal and the second most common cancer in Ireland, with around 2,000 new cases being diagnosed every year.
The NCSS claims that a screening programme for men and women aged between 55 and 74 could be one of the most effective public health interventions in the history of Ireland's healthcare system.
