Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness has become the first Irish politician elected to the European Parliament.

Fine Gael's Mairead McGuinness has become the first Irish politician elected to the European Parliament.

She topped the first count by 32028 votes ahead of surprise second placed Labour candidate Nessa Childers.
