Dublin's newest TD is promising to serve the communities in Dublin Central and the issue they present.

Independent Maureen O'Sullivan was declared elected in the constituency shortly before 10pm last night.

It took more than 12 hours, and eight counts, for the Gregory candidate to be deemed elected in the by-election.

She finished with a total of 13,739 votes - just short of the 14,207 quota.
