Independent leads in Dublin Central by-election
Independent candidate Maureen O’Sullivan leads the way in the Dublin Central by-election after the first count this afternoon.
She currently has 7,639 votes and the quota for election is 14,207 votes.
Fine Gael’s Pascal Donohoe has 6,439 votes while Labour’s Ivana Bacik has 4,926.
Christy Burke of Sinn Féin is next with 3,770 votes and is followed by the Fianna Fáil candidate Maurice Ahern on 3,483 votes.
The 203 votes for Paul O’Loughlin of the Christian Solidarity Party will be redistributed among the other candidates.
