Irish firm in bid to buy SR Technics operation
An Irish firm has submitted a bid to buy the majority of SR Technics' Dublin Airport operation, it was revealed this afternoon.
The deal would save 250 jobs at the plant in the wake of the Swiss aircraft maintenance company pulling out of the country.
It is understood the deal by Dublin Aerospace Limited will be confirmed in the next few days.
SIPTU's Pat Ward, in greeting the news, said that more than 800 SR Technics workers would still be left with no jobs.
“The Government should not be patting themselves on the back,” he said.
“While it is welcome certainly that 250 jobs may be retained, it falls far short of what could have been saved if there had been the political will.”
