The State Examinations Commission has been forced to reschedule the English Paper II for higher level and ordinary level Leaving Cert students after it was inadvertently leaked yesterday.

Paper II was mistakenly distributed to students yesterday morning during the Paper I exam at St Oliver's Community College in Drogheda, Co Louth.

The incorrect paper was quickly withdrawn, but details of the questions were still spread via text message to pupils across the country.

The State Examinations Commission has decided to distribute a replacement Paper II and to hold the exam at 9.30am on Saturday.

It says it could not guarantee that the new paper would be delivered to all exam centres in time for this morning's exam.
