A 32-year-old French man is in a critical condition in hospital following a shooting in Bray, Co Wicklow, in the early hours of this morning.

A 32-year-old French man is in a critical condition in hospital following a shooting in Bray, Co Wicklow, in the early hours of this morning.

The attack happened at an apartment complex in Richmond Hill just before 1.30am.

A number of shots are believed to have been fired through a second-floor window at the complex from an external stairway.

The injured man was found inside one of the apartments.

He was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí are appealing for information about two men seen in the area at the time of the shooting, one dressed all in black and the other wearing white runners, grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue baseball cap.

The pair are believed to have travelled towards James Everett Park in a silver saloon car.
