The volume of new mortgage lending in the first three months of this year was down over 60% compared to the same period last year, according to new figures released today by the Irish Banking Federation (IBF).

The volume of new mortgage lending in the first three months of this year was down over 60% compared to the same period last year, according to new figures released today by the Irish Banking Federation (IBF).

According to the statistics, a total of 10,997 new mortgages were issued in Q1 2009, with a total value of €1.998bn.
