Pension levy to dominate civil service conference

The controversial pension levy being imposed on all state employees is set to top the agenda at a conference today for IMPACT members working in the public service.

The event takes place every two years, with more than 140 members expected to attend this year's gathering in Portlaoise.

IMPACT says morale is currently low among civil servants due to the pension levy, the public-service recruitment freeze and the threat of further cutbacks in the coming years.
