Body found in hunt for missing teenager

The body of a young male was recovered from an east Belfast river today as police searched for a missing Co Down teenager.

The body was discovered in the Connswater River at Victoria Park.

A PSNI spokesman said they were investigating the circumstances of the death and a post mortem examination would be carried out tomorrow.

The body is feared to be that of 15-year-old Newtownards boy Jamie Moreland who has not been seen since he left his home on Saturday evening to travel to a band parade in Belfast.

An appeal for help in tracing him was to have been made at a press conference by a member of his family this afternoon, but was suddenly called off without explanation.
