Rape trial of Monaghan man to begin today

The trial of a Monaghan man for allegedly raping an 86-year-old woman in her home is scheduled to start later today.

A jury has been sworn in at the Central Criminal Court for the trial of the 35-year-old man, who has pleaded not guilty to raping the woman on June 16, 2008 and to burglary of her home with intent to steal.
