New research by the Health Service Executive has found that young people are much more likely to smoke if their parents do.

However, only half of smokers with dependent children say they are likely to kick the habit because of this.

The research, which found that two-thirds of smokers began before the age of 18, is being launched today as part of a campaign to help smokers quit.
